Baker supports a ban on gun purchases for those on no-fly list

The Boston Globe’s Dec. 4 editorial “It doesn’t have to be this way” called on Governor Baker to champion legislation that would prevent those on federal no-fly lists from being permitted to purchase a gun. On Wednesday of last week, Representative Lori Ehrlich filed the legislation on Beacon Hill. The very next day, the governor indicated his support for such a measure while addressing a meeting of the Massachusetts Newspaper Publishers Association.

Unfortunately, the editorial that was published on Friday did not reflect the governor’s support of the legislation. Keeping the people of Massachusetts safe is the governor’s highest priority, and he will continue to lead on this paramount responsibility.
