Us-against-them battles on energy do consumers no favors

<?EM-dummyText [Drophead goes here] ?>

Emily Norton of the Sierra Club claims that we can “invest in renewable energy, or we can double down on fossil fuels with more gas pipelines” (“If we’re serious about climate goals, let’s wean off of natural gas,” Letters, July 8). Actually, there are at least two more virtually carbon-free choices: Import more existing Canadian hydro power and buy more regional nuclear power.

Grid diversity is good for reliability, long-term costs, security, and the environment. This us-against-them thinking, pitting one industry against another, does not have in mind the best interests of New England ratepayers and consumers.
