No, Amazon, you can’t pop in for a bit

At this point, I am no longer surprised, but no less disappointed, that the Globe — contrary to the whole purpose of journalism in a democratic society — would provide a front page infomercial for Amazon and it’s “Amazon Key” service (“Amazon wants to pop in for a bit,” Page A1, Oct. 26).

Aside from one brief paragraph from a “retailer,” where was the voice representing the public interest — the voice that speaks for citizens and not mere consumers? How can democracy thrive when its institutions are daily being co-opted by elites seducing them with corporate dollars?
