Nancy Pelosi, Theresa May — two profiles in courage
The news this past week has shown us two steely women, House minority leader Nancy Pelosi and British Prime Minister Theresa May (“Pelosi cuts deal, limits speakership to 4 years,” The Nation, Dec. 13; “Britain’s May says she won’t seek reelection,” The World, Dec. 14). Win or lose, they have displayed dignity, intelligence, persistence, honesty, bravery, and, in the end, selflessness, as they agree to step down to achieve their goals.
Look no farther than these two if you think women are not up to the task of taking on the world. I wish our male leaders had more of their qualities.
