Push to regulate colleges should be tempered with thoughtful oversight

As chairman of the board of Curry College in Milton, I couldn’t agree more with Helen G. Drinan, president of Simmons University, and Antoinette M. Hays, president of Regis College, about the adverse consequences of a rush to regulatory judgment on the small colleges here in Massachusetts (Opinion, April 4). We certainly recognize the pain and frustrations of all those affected by the Mount Ida closing, but the rush to regulate should be tempered with an understanding of how best to provide oversight without impugning those within the sector.
