2012 Girls’ Basketball All-Scholastics
Meet the standout performers who earned All-Scholastic honors for their work this winter:
Nicole Boudreau, Andover, Senior
Boudreau finishes her career as a three-time state champion and Andover’s all-time leading scorer with 2,200 career points. The two-time Gatorade Player of the Year led the Golden Warriors to a 97-9 record in her four seasons. She will play at Boston College.
Olivia Healy, Reading, Junior
The guard averaged 20.9 points and 12 rebounds a game. As a captain, Healy led Reading to an undefeated season and a Division 2 state championship. She was named Middlesex League MVP for the second consecutive year, and is an all-league volleyball player.
Emma Roberson, Arlington Catholic, Senior
The senior guard was named Catholic Conference League MVP after averaging 19.5 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. She reached the 1,000-point mark this season and is a member of the National Honor Society. She also plays soccer and runs track.
Brooke Stewart, Masconomet, Senior
The 6-1 guard graduates as the third-leading scorer in Masconomet history and is a member of the 1,000-point club. In her senior season, Stewart averaged 22 points and 10 rebounds and was named MVP of the Cape Ann League. She will play at William & Mary.
Tajanay Veiga-Lee, Fenway, Junior
Veiga-Lee scored her 1,000th-career point early in the seasons and averaged 22 points and 11 rebounds per game. Veiga-Lee was named Boston City League MVP after leading the Panthers to its first City League and Division 4 championships.
Elizabeth Belanger, Acton-Boxborough, Senior
The senior averaged 22.9 points and 10.4 rebounds a game as she was named Dual County League (Large) Player of the Year. She finishes her career as a three-time DCL All-Star with 1,494 points and 687 rebounds. She will attend the University of New Hampshire.
Shannon Brady Scituate, Senior
The senior forward was name a Patriot League All-Star for the third time, leading the Sailors to the Div. 2 South title before losing to undefeated Reading in overtime at TD Garden. She is a member of the National Honor Society and will attend Bowdoin.
Kara Charette, Fairhaven, Senior
Charette finished her career as Fairhaven’s all-time leading scorer with 1,688 points. She was named South Coach Conference Player of the Year for the third consecutive season for the undefeated league champs. She will play at Franklin Pierce.
Lexi Gifford, Natick, Senior
The guard became the first female to score 1,000 points at Natick, finishing with 1,091. Gifford was named Bay State (Herget) co-MVP and recieved First-Team All-League honors for the third time. She will play softball at UConn.
Jennifer Gonsalves, Harwich, Senior
The senior point guard averaged 19.1 points, 6.9 assists, and 7.3 steals as she broke Harwich’s all-time scoring record. With her 1,761 career points, Gonsalves in the second all-time leading scorer in the Cape and Islands. She will attend UMass Lowell.
Tianna Johnson, New Mission, Senior
The senior guard was named to the Boston City League All-Star team for the second consecutive season. She led the Titans to the Division 4 North semifinals. Johnson will play basketball at Hampton University.
Paige Marshall, Braintree, Senior
The senior guard was named Bay State MVP and Braintree’s Most Outstanding Player after leading the Wamps to the Div. 1 South title. Marshall is a two-time league All-Star in basketball and a one-time selection in soccer. She will play hoops at Stonehill.
Lexi Sells, Bishop Feehan,
The senior was named an Eastern Athletic Conference All-Star after averaging 17 points, 6.4 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4.2 steals a game this season. The 5-foot-10-inch guard was nominated for the McDonald’s All-America Team, graduates with 1,297 career points, and will play at Providence.
Saliah Serrette, Weston, Junior
The versatile Dual County League All-Star averaged 17 points, 14 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 steals a game for Weston. The 5-11 Serrette was named Dual County League Small Player of the Year for the second consecutive year.
Blake Underhill, Ashland, Senior
The senior averaged 17.9 points and was named Tri-Valley League MVP. A 1,000-point scorer, the point guard has led the TVL in steals and scoring the past two seasons. She will play at Manhattan College.
COACHES OF THE YEAR
Kristen McDonnell, Braintree
McDonnell led a defensive-minded Braintree team to a Division 1 South title. The Boston Latin School and Stonehill grad completed her third season as head coach with a Bay State Conference (Carey) champions and a 22-3 record. She has a career mark of 50-17.
John McNamara, Pentucket
McNamara led his team to a Division 3 state championship. The Sachems were undefeated in the Cape Ann League and McNamara was named the league’s Coach of the Year. In his six years as head coach, the Tewksbury grad has a career 134-18 record.
Kim Penney, Reading
In her 14th season coaching, Penney led the Rockets to their first Division 2 state championship and undefeated season. The Tufts grad reached the 200-win milestone (221-89). She is a two-time MBCA Coach of the Year.
John Rice, Fenway
Rice led Fenway to its first Division 4 state championship in his debut at the helm of the Panthers. A former Boston Celtics draft pick, Rice is a graduate of Brockton and UMass Boston. He also coaches football.
