2012 Girls’ Lacrosse All-Scholastics
Meet the standout performers who earned All-Scholastic honors for their work this spring.
Players of the Year:
Laura McHoul Westwood, Senior
The senior recorded 12 points (seven goals and five assists) to help Westwood defeat Algonquin, 20-6, for the Division 1 state championship. She finished her senior season with 63 goals and 85 assists and was named Tri-Valley League MVP. The UNH-bound midfielder finished her career with 194 goals and 232 assists.
Emily Zlevor Medfield, Senior
The senior helped her team to the Division 1 state championship, netting 58 goals and 24 assists this season. The Tri-Valley league All-Star finishes her career with 162 goals and 90 assists. The midfielder will play lacrosse at Boston College next season.
Madison Acton Lincoln-Sudbury, Senior
The Duke-bound senior was a Dual County League All-Star and was named to the Under Armour All-American senior team. She finished her senior season with 100 goals, 60 assists, and 75 ground balls and helped lead the Warriors to the North title.
Shelby Aubin Needham, Senior
The senior netted 63 goals and 31 assists, while collecting 31 ground balls and 55 draw controls en route to being named to the Bay State League All-Star team. Also an All-American selection and First-Team EMass All-Star, Aubin will play at Georgetown University next season.
Tess Chandler Hopkinton, Junior
The junior reached 200 career goals this season, while helping the Hillers reach the Division 2 South Final. The midfielder played for Lower New England Team 1 in the National Tournament, where they came in first place. Chandler has verbally committed to Boston College for lacrosse.
Maggie Connolly Winchester, Senior
The senior midfielder finishes her career with 109 goals and 89 assists after recording 70 goals and 44 assists her senior season. She is a First-Team EMass All-Star, Middlesex League All-Star, and All American. Connolly will attend Gettysburg College.
Alex Dalton Notre Dame (Hingham), Junior
The junior led the Cougars in goals (87), ground balls (105), caused turnovers (25), and draw controls (74), while also being named an All-American. Dalton is also a member of the soccer and basketball teams. She will play at the University of Notre Dame.
Kate Farnham Andover
The senior led the Golden Warriors in ground balls this season and netted 22 goals and 18 assists. She graduates with career totals of 55 goals and 49 assists for 104 points. She will play at the University of Massachusetts next season along with twin sister, Anne.
Ally Fazio Andover, Senior
The senior graduates as the second all-time leader in points with 304 on 175 goals and 129 assists. This season, she amassed 66 goals and 56 assists, the highest single season assist total in Andover history. She will play at the University of Connecticut next year.
Megan Hennessey Winchester, Junior
The junior netted 79 goals and 39 assists this season to push her career totals to 188 goals and 105 assists. A two-time Middlesex League All-Star and First-Team EMass All-Star, Hennessey helped her team to a 22-1 regular-season record. She will attend Harvard.
Sarah Honan Medfield, Junior
The junior goaltender helped lead her team to the Division 2 state championship. She put together a career-high 18-save performance against Division 1 champion Westwood and was named the No. 1 goalie in the Tri-Valley League for the second straight season. She also plays field hockey.
Christine Johnson Reading, Senior
The senior captain was named Middlesex League Player of the Year after amassing 99 goals her senior season. The three-time All-Star finishes her career with over 200 goals. Also captain of the soccer team, Connolly will play lacrosse at SUNY Albany.
Hannah Murphy Duxbury, Junior
The junior captain was named a Patriot League All-Star for the third straight season and helped her team to the league championship. Murphy is also an all-star in field and ice hockey and is a two-time All-Scholastic selection in each.
Mary O'Connell Norwell, Junior
The junior captain had 88 goals and 62 assists en route to being named a South Shore League All-Star for the second straight season. O'Connell is also a captain of the soccer team and member of the National Honor Society and Latin and Spanish Honor Societies.
Kate Rich Westwood, Senior
The senior netted 83 goals and 29 assists to help her team defend their Division 1 state championship. Rich was named a Tri-Valley League All-Star and received All-American honors for the second straight season. The Boston College-bound midfielder finished her career with 253 goals and 126 assists.
Rachel Sexton Lincoln-Sudbury, Senior
The senior netted 103 goals and 29 assists while being named a Dual County League All-Star and All American for the second straight season. Sexton finishes her career with 223 goals and 85 assists. She will play Division 1 lacrosse at the University of Notre Dame.
Tory Waldstein Needham, Senior
The Bay State League MVP was also a First-Team EMass All-Star, in addition to being named to the Under Armour All-American Senior Team. Also a captain of the soccer and basketball teams, the senior will attend Harvard University.
Shelly Walsh Westwood, Senior
The senior captain recorded 20 goals, 30 assists, and 40 ground balls as she helped her team to the Division 1 state championship. She was named to the Under Armour Underclassman team her junior year and is a two-time Tri-Valley League all-star and was named an EMass all-star this year.
Coaches of the Year:
Coach of the year: Leslie Frank Westwood
Frank coached her team to a 22-2 regular-season record and their second consecutive Division 1 state championship, defeating Algonquin, 20-6, in the final. A girls'lacrosse coach for 14 years, Frank has a 291-24-5 career record. She enjoys running, biking, and kayaking.
Coach of the year: Jason Heim Medfield
Heim helped lead Medfield to the school's first ever Division 2 state championship, defeating Winchester, 10-9, in the final. Heim graduated from SUNY Albany in 2000 and has coached lacrosse for 10 years. He also coaches soccer, for which he was named the Division 2 South Coach of the Year.
