Roundup: Archbishop Williams thrives in OT

Senior guard Jason Pekkinen hit a runner with two seconds left in overtime to give Archbishop Williams (2-3) a 70-68 road victory over Coyle & Cassidy (2-2) on Saturday afternoon.

After the Warriors scored to tie the game at 68, Pekkinen took the inbounds pass and dribbled all the way up to the foul line before getting off the winning shot.

“It was really back and forth and both teams played good defense,” Archbishop Williams coach Ged Phelan said. “But it was one of those games where when we scored, they came right down and hit a three, and we went back and scored again.”

With 10 seconds left in regulation, Bishops senior forward Ryan Brown (game-high 21 points) hit a 3-pointer to tie the score. Pekkinen (10 points) had a shot at the buzzer to win it, but it rimmed out.
