MLS roundup: Los Angeles Galaxy solve Sporting KC

Landon Donovan scored a goal and set up another for his first points since his return to soccer, and the Los Angeles Galaxy snapped Sporting Kansas City’s 545-minute streak of shutout defense during a 2-0 victory Saturday night in Carson, Calif.

Donovan set up Marcelo Sarvas’s 27th-minute goal before scoring on a pass from Robbie Keane in the 74th minute for the two-time defending MLS champions (3-1-2), who ended a four-match skid in all competitions.


Sporting KC (4-2-2) had its three-match winning streak ended. The Eastern Conference leaders’ shutout streak was the fifth-longest in MLS history.

Dynamo 1, Toronto FC 1 — Warren Creavalle scored on a header off a corner kick late in second-half stoppage time to give Houston (4-2-1) a draw at BMO Field in Toronto.

FC Dallas 2, Whitecaps 0 — Blas Perez scored in the second half, Raul Fernandez made three saves for his fourth shutout of the season, and Dallas (6-1-1) beat visiting Vancouver (2-3-2).

Sounders 1, Rapids 0 — Obafemi Martins scored in the 27th minute to send Seattle (1-3-2) past host Colorado for its seventh straight win against the Rapids (2-4-2).

Fire 1, Crew 0 — Jeff Larentowicz scored in the 83d minute to lift host Chicago (2-4-1) over Columbus (2-2-3).


Real Salt Lake 1, Chivas USA 0 — Javier Morales scored in the 53d minute as Salt Lake (3-3-2) beat visiting Chivas USA (3-3-1).
