Softball players of the week

Maggie Hoffman, Avon — The senior hurler earned her 50th career win, the most in Avon softball history, and currently sports a 50-10 career record. This week she went 3-0 with eight strikeouts and was 5 for10 at the plate with 1 home run, 3 doubles, 4 RBIs, and 4 runs scored.

Madi Shaw, Sara Dawson, Bridgewater-Raynham — Shaw, a junior shortstop, had 10 hits in 13 at bats, including 3 doubles, 5 RBIs, and 4 stolen bases. Sophomore Dawson had three wins, including two shutouts, and allowed 14 hits in 19 innings while striking out 29 and walking one.


Jess Proia, Framingham — The junior pitcher went 3-0, including a perfect game against Milton on Monday, and a 1- hitter against Bay State leader Norwood on Friday.

Emily Messenger, Marblehead — Hitting home runs came easy for the sophomore catcher last week as she knocked three out of the park in the Magicians’ 10-5 victory over Gloucester. She now has six homers on the season and 11 in her career.

Julia Sullivan, Sandwich — The lefty hurler was 2-0 for the week and threw her third no-hitter of the season in the Blue Knights’ 2-0 win over Marshfield. She sports a 0.14 ERA and has 94 strikeouts and 11 walks in 50 innings pitched.
