What they were thinking: Sprayed at a 5k

Stan Grossfeld/Globe Staff

Every Sunday, Boston Globe photographer Stan Grossfeld asks the subject of one of his photos to explain what’s happening in the shot.

Who’s up today: Sarah Carver is sprayed with water at the L Street Running Club’s 26th Annual Jim Kane Sugar Bowl 5K in Dorchester, July 18, 2013.

Carver: “I was thinking it was so hot and I wished I could jump in a pool. Then I saw the guy with the hose. I was wishing he’d just follow me along with that hose. I wasn’t sure how much he was going to get me, but he got me a whole lot. It was awesome, very refreshing. So, it just caught me a little bit by surprise. My iPhone is OK, it dried in like four seconds because of the heat. I was just laughing more than anything. I’m from New Orleans and I’m used to the heat, and it was flat so it was just like New Orleans. Here it was absolutely beautiful, there was really good energy and everyone seemed to be having a really good time.”
