Led by Manager of the Year Davey Johnson and Rookie of the Year Bryce Harper, the Nationals won 98 games in 2012, the most wins in the 44-year history of the Washington/Montreal Expos franchise.
The Nationals have been a disappointment in 2013, though, entering the weekend at 68-65. If they finish below .500 they will become the ninth team to do so after winning 98 or more games the season before since the franchise began play in 1969.
A look at the teams that achieved that feat before them:
Giants 1994 55-60, 1993 103-59
Reds 1971 79-83, 1970 102-60
Cardinals 1986 79-82, 1985 101-61
