High school football: Week 7 picks by Bob Holmes

This week’s picks from the Globe’s High School editor:

Whitman-Hanson over Silver Lake — After watching upset of the Lakers, head on over to Whitman library to celebrate Toll House Cookie Day. But do we have to bring our own milk?

Mansfield over King Philip — According to sources, if the Globe had put Mansfield at No. 1, like everyone else, we would have been invited to be part of the College Football Playoff selection committee. But after we elevated Everett to No. 1, they gave final spot to Condoleezza Rice.

Woburn over Arlington — Can I pick Reading to beat Woburn now or do I have to wait until next week?

Brighton over New Mission — I know the city was against the new playoff system, but admit it, wouldn’t you love to see Brighton and Bishop Fenwick square off in the Division 5 North title game?

Bridgewater-Raynham over Barnstable — Has it really been four years since a coin flip at a Friendly’s restaurant decided the OCL’s playoff participant? I may not understand the power ratings system, but I know it’s better than flipping a coin.

BC High over St. John’s Prep — Prep loses Johnathan Thomas and scores 55 and 43 in next two games. But you won’t see those numbers in this game. Our neighbors have a nasty defense.

Staff picks by Bob Holmes. Last week: 3-3. Season: 19-17.
