This week’s picks from the Globe’s High School editor:
Amesbury over North Reading — Let’s see, which of these two kids should we pick to be All-Scholastic? Maybe we can ask Amesbury voters. OK, probably a bad idea.
Barnstable over Natick — When you cross that bridge, strange things happen. Just ask Xaverian.
BC High over Xaverian — You mean we can’t walk across Morrissey Boulevard for this one? That means we have to pay mileage to Westwood. The new boss won’t be happy.
Austin Prep over Bishop Fenwick — The problem with saying you’ll be ready for the Super Bowl is actually getting there.
Attleboro over Bridgewater-Raynham — How can you not love this new playoff system when you see a game like this? A year ago, a 7-point loss to Mansfield would have ended Attleboro’s season. Now it’s three wins from becoming the Division 1 Super Bowl champion.
Needham over Mansfield — The fact this isn’t even close to being the weekend’s best game tells you what this new system has created.
Lowell over Everett — Who is better prepared for Friday? The team that hammered St. John’s Prep last weekend or the team that scrimmaged Malden the past two weeks?
Phillips Andover over Phillips Exeter — I’m sure there’s nothing to the rumor that Andover grad Bill Belichick (Class of ’71) will participate in the coin flip. Of course, it is a bye week, so . . .
