Former Red Sox outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury placed a full-page ad in Friday’s Globe in appreciation of his seven years in Boston.
The ad shows Ellsbury, who agreed to a seven-year, $153 million deal with the rival Yankees last week, holding the World Series trophy after the Sox beat the Cardinals on Oct. 30 in Game 6 to clinch the title.
The ad reads in part: “To the fans of New England, teammates and the many friendships made. Thank you! Jacoby.”
Ellsbury’s first games at Fenway Park as an opponent will be April 22-24, when the Yankees are in town for a three-game series.
