Girls’ hockey players of the week

Sarah Hart, Reading — The senior scored two goals in a 5-2 win over Lexington that clinched the Middlesex League’s Liberty Division for the Rockets.

Savannah Norcross, Winthrop/Lynn — The eighth-grader struck for both goals in a 2-2 tie with Beverly/Danvers, a battle of co-leaders in the Northeastern North.


Ashley Castriotta and Abby Bogovich, Framingham — Castriotta made 45 saves and Bogovich got the tying goal with 20 seconds left that earned the 1-1 tie with Needham.

Jena Pantano and Alaina Ewing, Winchester — Tatano, a senior goaltender, made 35 saves and Ewing, a senior forward, had a goal and two assists as the visiting and No. 13-ranked Sachems beat the No. 3 Rockets, 4-3.

Haley Payne, Braintree — The junior forward’s unassisted goal for with just 11 seconds remaining got the Wamps past Needham, 3-2.

Maggie Layo, Sandwich — In an 8-1 win over Dennis-Yarmouth, the senior had a hat trick, including her 200th career point.
