Defending Boston Marathon champion Meb Keflezighi, Shalane Flanagan of Marblehead, and both reigning titlists headline the elite field for the annual Beach to Beacon 10K Road Race, to be run Aug. 2 in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.
Keflezighi in April became the first American men’s winner in Boston in 31 years. He placed fifth in last year’s Beach to Beacon, one spot off his top finish there (2007). Flanagan, who set a US women’s record for Boston this year, also is entered in the field. She last ran in the event while in high school.
Micah Kogo of Kenya looks to defend his men’s crown after winning in 2011 (27:47) and 2013 (28:03). Countryman Stanley Biwott is back after winning in 2012.
