Patriots fan wins $1 million at halftime by picking No. 12

Ernest Tomascik had plenty of time to decide what number to choose.

The Patriots fan from Fairhaven, Mass., was picked last year to participate in the Massachusetts Lottery's second-chance drawing at halftime of Sunday's Patriots game against the Dolphins at Gillette Stadium.

When he was presented with 24 giant lottery tickets to choose from, Tomascik selected No. 12, the uniform number of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. It paid off – ticket No. 12 was the winning one for the program's $1 million grand prize.

The Patriots' partnership with the Massachusetts Lottery started in 2009 with $5 scratch-off tickets.
