COLUMBUS — Milan Lucic didn’t like the way his night ended last time he visited Nationwide Arena. Lucic retreated to the dressing room leaking blood after eating Dalton Prout’s right fist.
Saturday night will be Lucic’s chance for retribution.
“Still not happy about it,” said Lucic, who believed Prout sucker-punched him. “But you definitely don’t want to do anything stupid where you put your team or yourself in jeopardy.”
Toward the end of overtime on Nov. 21, Lucic balked at how Prout slashed his stick out of his hands. Lucic went after Prout. When Prout dropped his gloves, Lucic shed just one mitt.
If Lucic comes knocking, Prout will be ready, like he is for rough stuff every night.
“You have to have that mind-set going into every game,” Prout said. “You want to play your game on the edge. Sometimes other teams disagree with it and other players disagree with it. You deal with it when it happens.”
Sergei Bobrovsky, Columbus’s ace goalie, will not play. Bobrovsky has a stomach illness, said coach Todd Richards. Curtis McElhinney will start against Niklas Svedberg.
