Pedro Martinez garnered more than 91 percent of the votes to get into the Baseball Hall of Fame, it was announced Tuesday.
The former Red Sox ace dedicated the honor to his native Dominican Republic on Twitter, and former teammate David Ortiz shared a photo of the two friends on the golf course to offer congratulations.
President of the Dominican Republic, Danilo Medina, passed along his best wishes to Martinez in a letter he shared on Twitter
Martinez’s wife, Carolina, shared a couple photos just before the announcement became official, and even rapper Lil Wayne called Martinez his favorite pitcher.

The Red Sox honored Martinez at Fenway Park, offering a message on the ballpark’s video board.
