After waiting for the NBA offices to open Monday morning, the Celtics received the stamp of approval on their three-way deal with the New Orleans Pelicans and Memphis Grizzlies.
The Celtics will receive forward Tayshaun Prince and a first-round pick from Memphis and guard Austin Rivers — the son of former Celtics coach Doc Rivers — from New Orleans, in exchange for forward Jeff Green, the team’s leading scorer, who joins the Grizzlies.
The Pelicans, who visit TD Garden Monday night, get guard Quincy Pondexter from Memphis.
It is unclear how long Rivers will be a Celtic; Boston does not have any interest in retaining the third-year guard, according to an NBA source, and could use him as a trade chip.
