Few players in the NHL are willing to drop the gloves with Bruins captain Zdeno Chara, and the 6-foot 9-inch defenseman showed exactly why when he was pestered by the Lightning’s Cedric Paquette Tuesday.
Chara dropped Paquette with one punch to the neck/chin area in the third period after they jostled at the end of a play near Tampa Bay’s goal.
Chara received six minutes worth of penalty time for the incident. Paquette, who is 6-1, got two, and a trip to the dressing room for medical attention.
“I don’t know what that kid was thinking. You don’t mess with Zee. He must have forgot we play them three more times. Hopefully he’ll be sent down by then for his sake,” Bruins left wing Brad Marchand said.

Paquette wasn’t done, though. He engaged Chara again after the final whistle, but the two were separated by the officials.
