Former Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo had a history of butting heads with the coaching staff during his time in Boston.
Any hopes that his behavior would differ with a change of scenery appear to have been wishful thinking. The Celtics shipped Rondo to the Dallas Mavericks earlier this season.
In Tuesday night's game against the Toronto Raptors, Rondo appeared to ignore coach Rick Carlisle's instructions.
The move prompted Carlisle to walk out to half court and call a timeout.
As Rondo approached the bench, the two could be seen exchanging words, which Carlisle said after the game was an "emotional moment."
"Well, an emotional game and we had a difference of opinion," he said. "There was an exchange and then in my mind it was over."
Rondo did not return to the game as the Mavericks rallied to beat the Raptors, 99-92.
What he said after the game:
The latest incident comes almost a year to the day of perhaps Rondo's most controversial moment with the Celtics.
Last February, Rondo did not travel with the rest of his teammates to Sacramento, choosing instead to remain in Los Angeles and celebrate his 28th birthday. While both Rondo and the Celtics tried to downplay the incident, it was a disappointing move from the captain of the team.
