SUNDAY’S WEATHER: After a lengthy downpour Saturday night, Sunday was as good as it gets. It was sunny and 73 degrees when the team took the field and kept getting warmer from there.

MEDICAL REPORT: INF Brock Holt fouled a ball off his right big toe. X-rays were negative and he went through the workout. OF Bryce Brentz (right knee) has been fully cleared.

FUNDAMENTALLY SPEAKING: The Sox worked on rundown plays as their team fundamental. Minor leaguers were used as runners in the drill. That catchers Christian Vazquez and Ryan Hanigan have such strong arms certainly improved the crispness of that work.

THUMBS UP: Allen Craig continues to look good in batting practice. That isn’t necessarily telling but he clearly has a better base and stronger swing now that his left foot is fully healed. “There’s much more life in the bat,” manager John Farrell said.

THUMBS DOWN: Catching depth should not be a problem with Blake Swihart in Triple A. But the second-tier group in camp — Luke Montz, Humberto Quintero, and Matt Spring — haven’t done much to stand out.

AROUND THE BASES: In addition to Hanley Ramirez, the Sox will use Jackie Bradley Jr., Brentz, Craig, and Daniel Nava in left field during the spring schedule. Ramirez has missed an average of 46 games the last four years, so depth at that position could be important . . . Farrell has been impressed at how Pablo Sandoval takes time to work with the younger third baseman such as Garin Cecchini . . . Righthanded reliever Edward Mujica is 15 pounds lighter than last season and appears to have better arm speed as a result.

SCHEDULE: The Sox have their sixth full-squad workout Monday in advance of Tuesday’s doubleheader against Northeastern and Boston College.
