FOXBOROUGH – Rob Gronkowski wouldn’t bite on Thursday when asked to respond to comments made earlier in the week by Bills cornerback Stephon Gilmore, who said, “We’ve got a game plan to take him out of the game. We’re gonna be ready for him.”
It figures the Bills would focus their defense on the Patriots tight end, who had his fourth 100-yard receiving game against Buffalo in Week 2, when he caught seven passes for 113 yards and a touchdown in a 40-32 victory.
The second meeting of the season between the AFC East rivals comes Monday night at Gillette Stadium. Gronkowski, who grew up near Buffalo, had only positive things to say about Gilmore.
“He’s an excellent player, he means a lot to their defense. They’ve got many other good players, too,” Gronkowski said. “I’ve just got to go out to practice, prepare how I have been all year, and come Monday night we’ll see what happens.”
Asked if he likes the kind of challenge that Gilmore provided, Gronkowski gave a predictable answer.
“Yes, I love challenges. You get challenged in a different way every single week, and it helps you rise to different occasions,” he said. “It’s just another challenge coming on Monday night. I know that they’re definitely going to be prepared and ready to go.”
