In this week's episode of the Globe's Celtics podcast, "On the Parquet," beat writer Adam Himmelsbach welcomes special guest Dan Shaughnessy. Shaughnessy, a longtime Globe columnist, began covering the Celtics in the 1982-83 season and continued until halfway through the historic 1985-86 campaign, when he switched to the Red Sox beat.

In the podcast, Shaughnessy shares tales from the beat, from the time Bill Walton's wife sent a stripper to Celtics practice to the time he was challenged to a shooting contest by Larry Bird after Bird injured his hand in a bar fight. (That turned into a costly day for Shaughnessy.)

Himmelsbach and Shaughnessy also discussed today's NBA, going over everything from Brad Stevens to Rajon Rondo to the Warriors' historic start.
