In this week's episode of the Globe's Celtics podcast, I sat down with legendary Globe writer Bob Ryan. Ryan had three stints as a Celtics beat writer in the 1970s and '80s. On the podcast, he talked about how he got into sportswriting and discussed his early days at the Globe, including getting into a car accident with a bloodmobile on the way to his first day of work.

Ryan quickly ascended from being a Globe intern to a Celtics writer, and on the podcast he shares his memories of covering those teams, from his relationship with coach Tommy Heinsohn to the time Larry Bird inadvertently got him out of a speeding ticket.
