Football is coming back to Fenway Park with six games — three college and three high school — scheduled from Nov. 10 through Nov. 22.
After a 37-year absence, football returned to Fenway in 2015 when Notre Dame played Boston College. The Eagles will once again be playing at Fenway this year, and just as they did two seasons ago, they will serves as the road team again. Tickets are available on the Red Sox website.
Here is a breakdown of this year’s games.
The Big Green are still in contention for the Ivy League crown – they’re one of four teams with a 3-2 league record – one game behind first-place Yale, which sits at the top with a 4-1 record. Running back Ryder Stone led Dartmouth to a 10-0 win over Cornell with 119 yards on 28 carries, both career highs.
The Bears started 2-1, but have lost five straight and are still looking for their first league win. The defense has allowed nearly 440 yards and more than 30 points per game. The team has struggled offensively, with three different quarterbacks seeing action this season.
The game will be televised on NBCSN.
The Minutemen started the season 0-6 before winning two games in a row. That streak was snapped though when UMass lost a tough road game, 34-23, to Mississippi State. Quarterback Andrew Ford has started seven games for UMass, completing 151 of 235 passes with 13 touchdowns. Ford missed last week’s game with a concussion, and was replaced by Ross Comis, who went 15 for 26 for 223 yards and a touchdown. Coach Mark Whipple is one win away from becoming the school’s all-time leader.
The Black Bears are coming off a 31-17 loss to Delaware, and are coached by Joe Harasymiak, a Springfield College graduate who is only 31. Running back Josh Mack has rushed for 1,152 yards and is averaging 144 yards rushing per game.
The game will be televised by NESNPlus.
Both BC and UConn have games this weekend prior to their showdown at Fenway. The Eagles need just one more win to become bowl eligible, and are hoping to do so this weekend when they host No. 23 North Carolina State. UConn hits the road to face No. 18 Central Florida.
Running back A.J. Dillon has rushed for 843 yards and seven touchdowns on just 185 carries to lead the Eagles. Freshman quarterback Anthony Brown has thrown for 11 touchdowns, rushed for one, and caught another to pace an offense that has come to life, with BC winning three straight games after a 2-4 start.
UConn will serve as the home team for the game. Quarterback Bryant Shirreffs has thrown for 2,287 yards and 14 touchdowns, but will miss the game against Central Florida with a concussion. His status for the BC game has not been determined. David Pindell will get the start at Central Florida.
The game will be televised on CBSSN.
These two Catholic Conference foes will meet for the second time in three weeks, with CM prevailing the first time around on a Hail Mary pass to edge the Eagles, 21-20.
Everett is the No.1 team in the state and has been rolling through the competition this season. Masconomet will be hoping to spring the upset. Everett won last year’s meeting, 35-24.
Scituate captured the Patriot League crown in the Fisher Division, while Hingham finished in second place in the Patriot League Keenan Division. Scituate has won the last three years.
