The Curse of Kevin Durant: Is it for real?

Is Kevin Durant cursed?

It may not be as significant as the Curse of the Bambino (RIP), but after Oklahoma City’s loss in the NBA Western Conference finals — epically blowing a 3-1 lead to Golden State in a series that ended Monday — one has to wonder.

The rapper Lil B and Durant have a running spat that dates back to 2011. After Golden State beat Oklahoma City, 96-88, in Game 7 of the West finals, he took to Twitter to remind everyone of the suppposed hex.

Lil B also tweeted Saturday night after the Warriors beat the Thunder, 108-101, to force a final game in the best-of-seven series.

So, what’s this all about?

Durant called Lil B “wack” five years ago. That set the rapper off.

There have been many more tweets on the subject exchanged between the two, many of them containing not-family-friendly language.

Oklahoma City reached the NBA Finals in 2012, losing in five games to a star-laden Heat team that included LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh, but that was the team’s peak. The Thunder soon traded away James Harden and haven’t been back to the finals since.

Will the curse, if it exists, follow Durant out of town? He’s a free agent after the playoffs end, and he’s given little indication on his future plans. Many teams are interested, including the Celtics.

Maybe Lucky the Leprechaun can help? Time will tell.
