For much of Monday morning, the NBA world eagerly watched Twitter, refreshed the Players Tribune website, and scoured online sources for any news of free agent Kevin Durant's decision.
Then, at about 11:39, the news emerged: Durant will join the Golden State Warriors.
Naturally, social media and other online locations became the place fans, media, NBA insiders and others who closely followed Durant's free agency turned to when he made his choice.
"If u can't beat um join um," former Celtic Paul Pierce wrote on Twitter.
Here's a sampling of the commentary on Twitter following Durant's decision.

The disappointment I think is not from individual teams and fans, but the fact he chose a path that's already marked, instead of his own.

Process w/ Durant and Golden State players has been ongoing for months. They sold him on winning multiple titles together, easing Curry load

There's been tremendous pressure within Durant's inner-circle to make dramatic move, to ride endorsement wave of change. Well, he did it.

Stephen A Smith calls this KD move to Golden State the "weakest move (he's) ever seen from a superstar. Plain and simple."

Thoughts?
Can’t bash Kevin Durant for this. The guy put winning above everything else. Including his ego.
