MINNEAPOLIS — Celtics small forward Jae Crowder took himself out of Monday’s game with 4:01 left in the third quarter after his ankle flared up. The Celtics won, 99-93.

Crowder missed eight games with the ankle injury and would not guarantee he would play Wednesday night against the Brooklyn Nets.

“It was all right in the first half, second half I didn’t have an ankle,” he said. “I pulled myself. I couldn’t go anymore. But I’ll be fine. I’m going to figure it out.

“I’m leaving it in the hands of my body on that one. If it can’t go, I gotta listen to it. That’s what happens now.”

Crowder had 4 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 rebounds against the Timberwolves. He has scored 13 points on 5-for-15 shooting with five turnovers in three games since his return.
