This season the Celtics will welcome 11 new players to their 15-man roster, with reinvention taking the place of continuity as the franchise seeks to continue its ascension. When practice begins on Sept. 26, these new players will have an extended chance to become familiar with each other.

For the first time since 2013, the Celtics will open training camp at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island. The Celtics had held camp at their Waltham practice facility for the past three years.

The team previously held camp in Newport under former head coach Doc Rivers from 2008-10, as well as in 2013, Brad Stevens’s first year as coach. The Celtics will return to Waltham for a Sept. 29 practice, and their first preseason game will be played at TD Garden against the Hornets on Oct. 2.
