 Of note: Tim Murphy called the Lions “the best Columbia team in my 24 years” as Crimson coach. Columbia is tied atop the Ivy League standings as it chases its first Ivy League title since 1961. Said Murphy: “Their defense is big, strong, and physical . . . They blitz and play man coverage . . . They’re a play or two away from being undefeated.” Columbia suffered a 23-6 loss to Yale last week, ending a seven-game win streak that dated to last season . . . Harvard’s Smith was named co-Rookie of the Week in the Ivy after throwing for 125 yards and three touchdowns in a 25-22 win over Dartmouth last Saturday.
