According to UMass, Ford was released from the hospital last Saturday evening “in good spirits,” but the university did not comment on his status for this week’s game . . . UMass kicker Logan Laurent won this week’s Gold Helmet Award from the New England Football Writers Association after hitting the winning 36-yard field goal in double overtime. Laurent was 3 for 3 on field goals, and his 45-yarder tied the game with five seconds left in regulation . . . Young has rushed for more than 100 yards in each of his last two games.
