 Of note: Mississippi State is ranked No. 21 in the Associated Press poll . . . Ford, a junior, was taken off the field on a stretcher after suffering a neck injury in last week’s win over Appalachian State. According to UMass, Ford was released from the hospital last Saturday evening “in good spirits,” but the university did not comment on his status for this week’s game . . . UMass kicker Logan Laurent won this week’s Gold Helmet Award from the New England Football Writers Association after hitting the winning 36-yard field goal in double overtime. Laurent was 3 for 3 on field goals, and his 45-yarder tied the game with five seconds left in regulation . . . Young has rushed for more than 100 yards in each of his last two games.
