    Harvard 4, Dartmouth 2

    Harvard men’s hockey advances to ECAC semifinals

    Ryan Donato scored a hat trick as the Harvard men’s hockey team advanced to the ECAC semifinals on Sunday with a 4-2 victory over Dartmouth at Bright-Landry Center.

    Adam Fox added a goal and an assist for the Crimson (15-13-4), who travel to Lake Placid, N.Y., next weekend to face Clarkson, who beat Colgate in the deciding game of their quarterfinal series, 5-1.

    Dartmouth (16-17-2) opened the scoring on Collin Rutherford’s goal at 4:43 of the first period. Donato tied it seven minutes later, assisted by Reilly Walsh and Fox.


    Donato gave Harvard the lead for good at 8:03 of the second period, and Fox scored to make it 3-1 at 9:29 of the third, assisted by Michael Floodstrand and Benjamin Solin. Floodstrand also assisted on Donato’s second goal.

    Donato completed the hat trick unassisted with his 26th of the season at 13:16 of the third period. Three minutes later, Dartmouth cut the deficit to 4-2 on Kevan Kilistoff’s goal, closing the scoring.

    Merrick Madsen stopped 20 shots for the Crimson. Devin Buffalo had 25 saves for the Big Green.

    Dartmouth won the opener of the best-of-three series on Friday, 4-1, before the Crimson rebounded in convincing fashion with a 7-1 victory on Saturday, forcing a deciding game. All three games were played on Harvard’s home ice.
