BC football will be well represented in season-ending all-star games
Eight seniors from the Boston College football team will take part in various all-star bowl games over the coming weekends.
Offensive tackle Aaron Monteiro will play in the Spiral Tropical Bowl in Daytona Beach on Sunday, with kickoff slated for 10 a.m. The 6-foot-7-inch lineman from Brockton finished his career making 31 consecutive starts and earned All-ACC third-team honors.
The following weekend, wide receiver Jeff Smith and defensive tackle Ray Smith will take part in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., Jan. 19.
That same day, safety Lukas Denis will represent BC in the East-West Shrine Game in St. Petersburg, Fla. In two seasons as a starter, Denis had eight interceptions and was a 2017 Walter Camp All-American.
Closing out the bowl season on Jan. 26, four Eagles will take part in the Reese’s Senior Bowl in Birmingham, Ala., which ties a school record. Defensive end Zach Allen, defensive back Will Harris, offensive lineman Chris Lindstrom, and tight end Tommy Sweeney.
Allen is considered the ACC’s top edge rusher by Pro Football Focus. He recorded 15 tackles for loss this season. Lindstrom was just as dominant on the offensive line, allowing no sacks and just three hurries all season.
Harris and Sweeney each shared the William J. Flynn award as BC’s most valuable player. Harris finished fourth on the team with 75 tackles and Sweeney was second in receptions (32) and third in receiving yards (348).
