Players of the week in boys’ hockey

Junior Forward Tom Besigner, BC High — The Eagles’ tri-captain scored the winning goal against Catholic Memorial in the Edward M. Wright Memorial Game at Boston University’s Brown Arena. The goal helped complete the Eagles’ rally in the third period that turned a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 victory Saturday night.

Senior Forward Mike Carbone, Marshfield — The Rams clinched the Atlantic Coast League title Saturday with a 4-2 victory over the Plymouth South Panthers. Two of those goals belonged to Carbone, who sits at No. 2 in the league in terms of points with 21.

Senior Forward Cam Owens, Wilmington — Anytime you break your school’s scoring record, the least you deserve is to be someone’s Player of the Week. Owens scored the record-breaking goal in his team’s 4-0 victory on the road against Stoneham. The Wildcats senior now sits with 137 points all-time in his Wilmington career, topping his older brother Justin Vallas for the top spot in the school’s record books. He had 136 points going into the Wildcats’ Saturday contest against Watertown, but he increased it to 137 when he scored Wilmington’s winning goal against the Raiders.

Junior Forward Nick Marrocco, Duxbury — The Green Dragons’ only game last week was a 7-3 victory over Whitman-Hanson, with Marrocco providing two goals. The junior shares this nomination with teammate and fellow junior Trevor O’Brien, who also scored twice.

Sophomore Goalie Evan Morelli, Reading — The Rockets went undefeated in the two games last week to extend their win streak to three. That streak has been helped by the stellar play of Morelli, who shut out Winchester Wed. Jan 30. The Rockets won, 5-0, before taking down Lexington, 7-1, Saturday.
