Schools roundup: Acton-Boxboro field hockey wins finale

Defending state field hockey champion and No. 1-ranked Acton-Boxboro finished its regular season Saturday, beating No. 10 Beverly, 3-1.

With the tournament pairings coming out Monday, A-B should be the top seed in Division 1 North at 17-0-1.

“Whether you’re seeded first, second, whatever, it doesn’t matter to me,” said Colonials coach Mae Shoemaker. “We just have to stay healthy.”

Against the host Panthers (15-2-1), Cara Conery had a goal and two assists. Her assists went to Eleana Cardarelli and Leah Cardarelli and gave A-B a 2-0 lead at the half. After Beverly cut the lead to 2-1, Conery’s goal put it away.

Boys’ soccer

Weymouth 1, BC High 0 — Jake Davenport scored a second-half goal and Lucas Rezende-Verge recorded his 10th shutout for the visiting Wildcats (7-5-5).

Foxborough 2, Dedham 1 — Devante Teixeira and Billy Antoine scored for the Warriors.

Cross-country

Catholic Conference — St. John’s Prep won the conference title, finishing first at Franklin Park with 27 points. The Prep’s Liam Dow was the overall winner in 16 minutes 28 seconds, followed by Xaverian’s Lucas Taxter in 16:30.
