Division 1: Ali Atherton, Milford
Atherton went 17-1 to lead the Scarlet Hawks to the Division 1 state title. She tossed six shutouts and finished with 88 strikeouts and a 0.88 ERA, allowing 13 earned runs with a WHIP of .087. She’ll play at Southern N.H.
Division 2: Kelly Nelson, Norton
Nelson led the Lancers to the Division 2 state semifinals, going 21-2 with 398 strikeouts and a 0.21 ERA. The state’s Gatorade Player of the Year allowed five earned runs on 31 hits in 166 innings. She has 1,012 career strikeouts.
Division 3: Logan MacDonald, Austin Prep
The two-time Division 3 Player of the Year led the Cougars to the Division 3 state title game. MacDonald tossed 14 shutouts, struck out 202, and had an ERA of 0.46. The National Honor Society member has 670 career strikeouts.
Emily Arredondo, Woburn, senior
Arredondo went 19-4 with 122 strikeouts and a 1.22 ERA on the year. The two-time Middlesex Liberty MVP tossed 7 shutouts this spring, including a perfect game. The senior, who batted .366, will play at Westfield State.
Erin Barry, Braintree, junior
The Bay State Carey MVP led the Wamps to a 16-5 record. The junior hurler struck out 226 batters while compiling a 1.69 ERA. Barry also tossed three no-hitters this year, including a perfect game against Natick.
Julia DaCosta, Bishop Feehan, senior
The Villanova-bound DaCosta batted .556 with 10 HRs, 34 RBIs, and 30 runs. The senior shortstop had a .925 fielding percentage and made only five errors this year. The National Honor Society member is a two-time All-Scholastic.
Adrianna Favreau, Tewksbury, senior
Favreau batted .507 with five home runs and 27 RBIs this season. The two-time All-Scholastic was also effective in the circle, with a 14-8 record and 100 strikeouts. The National Honor Society member will attend Endicott.
Kira Flegenheimer, Newton North, junior
Flegenheimer finished the season with a .432 average, 23 RBIs, and 6 triples. The Tigers catcher spent 147 innings behind the plate and posted a .991 fielding percentage. The junior also threw out 16 of 21 potential base stealers.
Allison May, West Bridgewater, senior
The Mayflower Comprehensive MVP led the Wildcats to the Division 3 state semifinal. The senior went 17-3, striking out 148 with a 1.09 ERA. May batted .560 with 12 HRs and 35 RBIs. She also captained the field hockey team.
Olivia McGrath, Latin Academy, senior
The two-time Boston City League MVP went 15-2. McGrath had an 0.99 ERA with 220 strikeouts and batted .456 with 31 RBIs as she led Latin Academy to the North sectional title game, the furthest any City League school has gone.
Lauren Nelligan, Abington, sophomore
The two-time All-Scholastic had a hit in 24 straight at-bats and finished with a .755 average. The leadoff hitter drove in 18 runs and had an on-base percentage of .794. Nelligan is a high honor student who also runs cross country.
Mia Nowicki, St. Mary’s, senior
The two-time Catholic Central MVP went 20-3 and finished with an 0.38 ERA and 294 strikeouts this spring. Nowicki led St. Mary’s to the Division 3 North semifinals allowing just 17 hits and 6 earned runs. She will attend Assumption.
Kyleigh O’Donnell, Archbishop Williams, senior
O’Donnell went 11-6 with 279 strikeouts and a 0.72 ERA to lead the way for the Bishops. The senior allowed just 12 earned runs and had 1,010 career strikeouts. O’Donnell hit .481 with 6 home runs, 13 RBIs, and 24 runs.
Emily Piergustavo, Milford, junior
Piergustavo was Hockomock MVP after batting .580 with 6 home runs, 38 RBIs, and 43 runs scored. The junior shortstop had a 1.086 slugging percentage with an .641 OBP and was the defensive leader on the Division 1 state champion.
Mckenzie Rae, Walpole, sophomore
Despite missing playing time due to a concussion, the outfielder batted .611 with seven home runs and 30 RBIs, and was named Bay State Herget MVP. A sophomore honor roll student, Rae also plays volleyball and basketball.
Jillian Richards, Silver Lake, senior
The Patriot League MVP finished with a 25-1 record while leading the Lakers to the Division 1 South final. Richards compiled 160 strikeouts and a 1.62 ERA. She batted .443 with 34 RBIs. She will play at UMass Dartmouth.
Madison Schaefer, Newton North, senior
The senior led the Tigers to the Division 1 state semifinal, with a 17-4 record, 182 strikeouts, and 0.69 ERA. Offensively, Schaefer batted .370 with a slugging percentage of .479 and an OBP of .440. She will play at Emory.
Ryley White, Dracut, sophomore
The sophomore was the Merrimack Valley MVP after going 20-3 with 287 strikeouts and a 1.00 ERA. For her career, White has thrown two no-hitters, including a perfect game in the Division 2 North sectional semifinal.
Division 1: Steve DiVitto, Milford
In his fourth season, DiVitto led the Scarlet Hawks to 25-1 record, a Hockomock League title, and a Division 1 state championship. DiVitto is 74-18 for his career and the Assumption grad was named Hockomock Coach of the Year.
Division 2: George Roy, Dracut
In his eighth season, Roy led the Middies to the Merrimack Valley Conference title and a berth in the Division 2 state championship game with a 21-5 record. The Fitchburg State graduate was named MVC Coach of the Year.
Division 3: Rocco Zizza, Latin Academy
Zizza led Latin Academy further than any City League team has ever advanced. The Dragons went 23-3 and made the Division 3 North final. Latin Academy won its 12th straight City League title in his 14 years at the helm.
