Josh Lee learned a lot from his loss in the George Bossi Lowell Holiday Tournament as a freshman. And the Burlington senior hasn’t had to deal with that experience at the event since.

Taking the mat at the Tsongas Center in Lowell on Friday, Lee took home his third straight Lowell title, defeating Melrose’s Sean Herbert at 138 pounds in a 5-4 decision. He is Burlington’s first three-time Lowell Holiday champion.

“It feels great, it’s an unbelievable feeling,” Lee said. “Wish I could’ve done it four times, but after I lost freshman year, I got hungry. I wanted to keep coming, I won it my sophomore year and couldn’t stop.”

Lee didn’t give up a point until his semifinal match with Timberlane’s Robbie Pinault, recording two pins, a technical fall and two wins by decision to roll to the finals.

He joined Timberlane’s Conor McGonagle as the two wrestlers to be a three-time champion at the Bossi.

“It feels really good to win my third,” Lee said. “I don’t know many people to have won it three times. It’s pretty good to know that, but the season’s still young, and I still have a lot to look at.”

It was a big win, but he has a bigger goal this season. A New England championship.
