EMass volleyball: Sacred Heart’s Abby Slavik headlines Players of the Week

Top performances from EMass. girls’ volleyball players from the past week:

Courtney Carreiro, Greater New Bedford – The senior setter tallied 30 assists in a 3-2 loss to Bourne to surpass 1,000 for her career in a 1-2 week for the Bears.

Janice Leao, New Bedford – The 6-foot-3 middle set a new school record with 40 kills on 59-of-63 attacking in a 3-2 win over Case, surpassing a mark set in 2009.


Anisha Mistry, Acton-Boxborough – The senior posted 73 assists in a 2-0 week for the undefeated Colonials, including a 52-assist performance in a 3-2 win over Concord-Carlisle.

Kristen O’Keefe, Arlington Catholic – A senior hitter, she picked up 43 kills over two matches, including 25 against Concord-Carlisle, to help the Cougars stay undefeated.

Abby Slavik, Sacred Heart – She became the first player in Mayflower League history to surpass 1,000 career kills in a 25-18, 25-14, 25-20 win over Westport on Thursday, part of a 3-0 week for the Saints.
