HIGH SCHOOL BOYS’ LACROSSE

EMass boys’ lacrosse: Reading’s Michael Tobin headlines Players of the Week

Top performances from EMass lacrosse players in the past week:

Alex Kreher, St. John’s Prep — Backstopping the Eagles to a win in the Creators Crosse, the senior made 18 saves in a 10-9 first-round win against Franklin before stopping six of the seven shots he faced in a 15-3 victory against Walpole.

Tim Ladner, Sandwich — The Blue Knights captured the Bridgewater-Raynam tournament with wins over Hull (12-4) and the host Trojans (11-6) thanks to the constant possession provided by Ladner from the faceoff-X. He won 30 of his 33 draws over two games and netted five goals.

John Schofield, Medfield — Once again, the Warriors (6-0) are off to a stifling start defensively and Schofield has been stellar. The defenseman created nine turnovers over two games against Xaverian (9-6) and Pinkerton Academy (17-5) last week, giving up just one goal while in coverage on each of the opposition’s top scorers.

Michael Tobin, Reading — Taking faceoffs for the first time in recent memory, Tobin more than held his own in the Rockets’ 15-14 overtime win over BC High, winning five of his 11 draws while scoring six goals (including the OT winner) and adding two assists and recovering five ground balls. He also had two goals and an assist in a 9-7 victory over Billerica.

Brendan Tully, Foxborough — In helping the Warriors win back-to-back Chowda Cup titles, the Providence College-bound attackman had 10 points over three games, including two goals and two assists in an 8-6 win over Norwell in the final.
