Jim Connor resigned as varsity football coach at Hingham High Friday morning after one season. According to athletic director Jim Quatramoni, it was a very personal decision, based on “Jim’s need to be more available to his family.”
Mark Nutley, the team’s defensive coordinator last fall, has been appointed acting head coach. He was the head coach at North Quincy High from 2013-17, finishing 12-43.
Connor, a four-year offensive lineman/long snapper at Boston College (2001-04), directed the Harbormen to a 7-3 record and the Division 3 South final last season. Previously, he was the head coach at North Quincy for seven seasons (29-47), followed by a five-year run at Norwell (34-20).

“The Hingham Public Schools will immediately post this position in order to solidify leadership of the program for the 2019 football season,” said Quatramoni in a statement. “The Athletic Department appreciates the time and effort that Jim Connor has provided to our football program and we wish him well in his future endeavors.”
