Lacrosse goal scored from 80 yards lifts Boston Cannons

You may not see another lacrosse goal like this one for a while.

With the Boston Cannons trailing the Rochester Rattlers, 14-12, in the closing seconds of Saturday night’s Major League Lacrosse game at Harvard Stadium, the home team needed a miracle.

And they got one on Brodie Merrill’s length-of-the-field 2-point goal as time ran out in regulation.

“I just looked up at the clock to see that there were three seconds left,” said Merrill. “Mitch [Belisle] was about to throw it and I said, ‘Mitch, Mitch, I’m going try to shoot it here.’

“I whipped it as hard as I could. The way the lighting was, it went off into the dark and I saw the reaction from the guys.”

Take a look at the 80-yard shocker:

The Cannons won the game, 15-14, on Davey Emala’s goal in overtime. Boston’s Will Manny finished with six goals and three assists.
