Here’s our weekly look at the key plays in the Patriots’ game after reviewing the film.
The harder the bite
Twice the Patriots got the free safety to bite, and took advantage with a big play.

James White lined up on the outside against CJ Mosley, with free safety Lardarius Webb in the middle of the field.

Webb sat down on Julian Edelman running underneath, opening up the deep middle portion of the field for White for a 61-yard catch-and-run.

And late in the fourth quarter . . .

. . . Chris Hogan lined up in the slot with Eric Weddle playing centerfield.

Tom Brady’s play-fake made Weddle hesitate just enough that Hogan blew right past him.

And look how far behind the defense Hogan was when he made the catch.

Safety dance

The key to the safety was right guard Vlad Ducasse, who lined up over Malcom Brown.

But Ducasse blocked Elandon Roberts, leaving Brown one-on-one with the fullback.

Advantage: Brown.

Jump around
Shea McClellin was being magnanimous by crediting his teammates for helping him block Justin Tucker’s 35-yard field goal.

But McClellin was already halfway over the center before the Ravens even got out of their stance. This was great timing and athleticism by McClellin.
Defending Brady

Between the 20-yard lines, the Ravens played a conservative two-deep defense with a basic four-man front.

But they went after Brady in the red zone, and Brady threw a touchdown to Malcolm Mitchell against a seven-man blitz.
Attacking Flacco
The Patriots didn’t blitz often, but they picked their spots.

Here, Rob Ninkovich stunted to the inside.

The Ravens lost track of Ninkovich behind the line, and left guard Marshal Yanda never saw Ninkovich coming through for a huge third-down sack in the fourth quarter.
