The playing surface at Gillette Stadium has been upgraded to FieldTurf’s newest version, which according to the company is “the industry’s highest-performing monofilament fiber that makes the surface player-friendly, resilient, and durable.’’

The Revolution practiced on the new field Thursday, and the first game on it will be Saturday when they host Real Salt Lake.

Gillette Stadium featured a natural grass surface when it opened in 2002 but has used FieldTurf since 2006. The latest version of the surface “plays soft, feels real, looks great, and hangs tough” according to the company.
