The 17 Patriots players who knelt during the national anthem Sunday may be back on their feet before their next game in Foxborough.

Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola was asked Wednesday about an earlier report that every member of the team would stand during the anthem before the game this upcoming Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

“My understanding [is] I think we’re all going to stand, but, you know, it’s not Sunday yet,” Amendola told reporters.

The demonstration before Sunday’s game was the first time any Patriots player had knelt during the anthem since Collin Kaepernick began doing so last year to protest racial injustice.

Patriots safety and defensive captain Devin McCourty explained after the game Sunday that the players’ decision to stand arm-in-arm, with a large group kneeling, was intended to show unity in response to President Donald Trump’s commentsover the weekend.
