Tom Brady on Jimmy Garoppolo: ‘He’s a great friend and always will be’
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady addressed the Jimmy Garoppolo trade — but didn’t elaborate much — during his weekly interview on Westwood One radio.
“Jimmy was a great teammate and he’s a great friend and always will be. I want the very best for him,” Brady told Westwood One host Jim Gray in a four-minute conversation. You can listen to that interview by clicking here.
Brady noted that he’s seen Garoppolo evolve from a 2014 second-round draft pick into a solid quarterback.
“He’s put in all the effort,” Brady said. “I’ve watched him for 3½ years and I really enjoyed working with him. Hopefully he goes on and does a great job.”
And Garoppolo received perhaps the greatest compliment a player like Brady will offer.
“He earned the trust of his teammates and the respect of his teammates, and that’s all you can ask for as a player,” Brady said.
Brady downplayed a question about his future in the NFL.
“I’m focused on this season,” he said, “and I’m sure that’s where everyo9ne else in our organization is focused.”
