The Patriots claimed Martellus Bennett on waivers Thursday afternoon after the Packers released the tight end due to “failure to disclose a physical condition.”
Although Green Bay has not revealed more information, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Bennett has a torn rotator cuff. According to Rapoport, the 30-year-old could try to play through the injury, but should his efforts be unsuccessful, New England could then put him on injured reserve.
On Friday, Bennett’s belongings arrived at his locker at Gillette Stadium. He plans to wear no. 88, as he did last season with the Patriots.
