The Patriots left points on the field in a rare display of poor clock management at the end of the first half Sunday against the Dolphins.
Albert McClellan blocked his second Matt Haack punt with 38 seconds left in the half, giving the Patriots the ball at the Miami 15 with two timeouts in their pocket.
The Patriots inched to the 2-yard line in four plays, using two timeouts, and faced a third and 2 with 14 seconds left.
However, Tom Brady took a horrible sack, instead of throwing the ball away, and the Patriots did not have time to get kicker Stephen Gostkowski on the field.
